"What will you do now?"
"I shall be the hunter and not the hunted"
The girl with the dragon tattoo is finally ready to confront her nemesis, the only woman who is evidently and in many ways her match. Salander will not wait to be hunted. When she strikes it will be a double blow: vengeance for recent atrocities, and the settling of lifelong scores. For months now Salander has been closing in on her target. She has moved from Stockholm, her hair is newly styled, her piercings are gone. She could pass for any other businesswoman. But not all businesswomen have a Beretta Cheetah beneath their jacket. They do not wield the lethal power of a hacker's genius. They do not carry scars and tattoos to remind them that they have survived the unsurvivable. The new episode in David Lagercrantz's acclaimed, internationally bestselling continuation of Stieg Larsson's Dragon Tattoo series is a thrilling ride that scales the heights of Everest and plunges the depths of Russian troll factories. It begins with the discovery of Mikael Blomkvist's number at Millenniummagazine in the pocket of an unidentified homeless man who died with the name of a government minister on his lips. Blomkvist, at extreme risk to himself, tracks down his old friend and will protect her as far as he can. But he is powerless to crush her enemies on his own. And for Lisbeth Salander, the personal is always political - and deadly.

Narrator Simon Vance delivers the sixth Lisbeth Salander story, which began with THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. Salander has disappeared, leaving journalist Mikael Blomkvist to track her down. He desperately needs her help with another far-reaching conspiracy. Vance's stellar narration imbues the story with an engaging cadence and precise vocal inflection. A staggering number of characters is given unique voices, an impressive feat, considering how varied and dynamic the cast is. However, the convoluted plot, which doesn't focus on Salander, makes for rough going. Nonetheless, scenes buzz with intensity, and Vance masterfully layers in tension throughout. His narration is the highlight of the audiobook. J.M.M. © AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine -

Swedish journalist Mikael Blomkvist takes center stage in Lagercrantz’s exciting third addition to Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series (after 2017’s The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye). Lisbeth Salandar, the girl with the famous dragon tattoo, has been off traveling around Europe and not responding to Blomkvist’s emails, which has left him working halfheartedly on a story about Russian computer trolls. Then he receives a phone call from a medical examiner who tells him a dwarf has been found dead on a Stockholm street with Blomkvist’s phone number in his pocket. This is far more interesting than Russian trolls, and after Blomkvist enlists Lisbeth’s help, she figures out that the man was not a dwarf, but a Sherpa, which leads them to a deadly Everest expedition involving the Swedish defense minister. When Blomkvist gets into trouble, Lisbeth comes to his rescue. Lisbeth’s plan to kill her evil twin sister, Camilla, provides a diverting subplot. A tantalizing ending hints at important changes for Blomkvist and Lisbeth ahead. Series fans will be pleased with the thoughtful way Lagercrantz develops the character of their beloved action heroine in this worthy outing. Agents: Magdalena Hedlund and Jessica Babs Bonde, Norstedts Agency (Sweden).
